God’s perspective

Although COVID restrictions have affected us all in many ways, it is so good to see this season through God’s perspective. Each week the two YWAM Newcastle locations of Mayfield and Tahlee gather together to worship, pray and fellowship. Recently we have been reading through a Psalm, reflecting on it and discussing it in small groups. Each week these Psalms have spoken to us deeply, one that spoke strongly to us  is:

TAKE COURAGE, ALL YOU WHO LOVE HIM,
WAIT FOR HIM TO BREAKTHROUGH,
ALL WHO TRUST IN HIM!” PSALM 31:24

  • AUDITORIUM UPDATE

     Since we took on responsibility for Tahlee, we have received our second intake of Discipleship Training School [DTS] students. Further, we have run a Bible Core course, several outreaches to the Central West of NSW, along with a DTS outreach connecting with young Australians from Byron Bay and Albury.

    We’ve continued the legacy of Tahlee Ministries Inc with regular outreach to the Karuah Mission. This began a few weeks prior to lockdown. The next DTS outreach is planned for late October, to Broken Hill, Toowoomba, Boggabilla, Peak Hill and Orange, with the staff and students  continuing the emphasis of ministry with Indigenous Communities.

    LILLIAN WILLOUGHBY BUILDING UPGRADE

    The construction project in the Lillian Willoughby apartment has been able to continue within COVID restrictions, and it is so encouraging to see LW units being transformed before our eyes. Already a great building, its needed freshening up for some time.

    We are very blessed to have so many highly skilled people advising, and working with us these days. Steve Edmonds, previously the CEO of Reflections Holiday Parks, is one of these exceptional people, and has agreed to be our project manager, doing a brilliant job guiding the team to accomplish this project at a high standard. New car-parks, kitchens, interior paint and tiling are the order of the day.

    MISSIONS TRAINING

    OUTDOOR EDUCATION

    In May this year we hosted a Year 8 camp for one of our local christian high schools.Feedback from teachers and students was very positive. Our live-learn philosophy of discipleship, was put into action, as YWAMers worked alongside teachers to run activities and mentor the students. One of the leaders commented “I got great joy from seeing the rolling out of a picture we’d had for some time: Young YWAMers, some only a few years older than the students, imparting to the school students the amazing things God did in their own life.”

    We are believing for a vast multiplication of these camps, and pray that many Christian School students will see the beauty of God as they also see opportunities to partner with God in the greatest adventure their lives.
